The church began as a mission of First Baptist Church, Athens, Tennessee in November of 1926. Two years later, on November 26, 1928, the mission was constituted as a church with thirty members.
After much growth through the years, the church moved to its present location in 1947. There have been several building programs through the years, including a family life center which was completed in 1995, and a new house of worship which was completed in 2002.
Membership has grown from those thirty original members to over eleven hundred members at present.
